Vacation Bible School 2017 was a joint effort between St Marks UMC Mesquite, First UMC Mesquite and New Covenant UMC Sunnyvale to offer a community wide Vacation Bible School with a theme building upon a Mesquite ISD Program to encourage early childhood reading and literacy:
READ…PLAY…TALK.

The Joint UMC VBS with the theme of “READ the Bible…PLAY Your Part…TALK about Your Faith” was hosted at First UMC Mesquite from Tuesday, August 8, 2017, through Friday, August 11, 2017, from 6:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. for children in grades Pre-K through 6th grade.

A Bible story was brought to life each evening. The children learned about Moses, David and Goliath, Jonah and the Whale, and Jesus in the Temple as a young boy, They sang songs, played games, made crafts, ate and HAD FUN! They were encouraged to share what they learned with their families and friends.

Books were collected so that each child could receive at least one book every night. It was estimated that over 200 books were distributed.

School supplies were also donated to VBS and distributed to area schools.

St. Marks UMC was well represented and thanks to all the adults, youth, and children who participated! We all received a blessing this summer thanks to YOU!

We hope to make this first Joint UMC VBS an annual tradition. Hope you can join us next summer!
